A song for Hugo

Spacedog presents Hugo (photo: Peter Kalen).Hugo the robotic vent doll is performing at Hastings Museum at 2pm on Saturday 12 March and needs something beguiling to sing to families. None of his usual repertoire will do as that’s all about death and submarines. He’s really not into Lady Gaga as he feels it’s a little undignified to tackle her oeuvre at his venerable age (and the show is tomorrow and I don’t have time to learn any of Gaga’s fancy tunes). So here’s a shortlist which bears a remarkable similarity to the pile of music that’s on top of my piano right now:

I’ve Got You Under My Skin (Cole Porter)

Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered (Rogers and Hart)

Life on Mars (Bowie)

Our Love is Here to Stay (Gershwin)

Someone to Watch Over Me (Gershwin)

The Man I Love (Gershwin)

Apollo launchSORRY – THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED DUE TO ILLNESS

It’s National Science and Engineering Week and Spacedog are celebrating by playing music inspired by the space race. Enjoy the eerie sounds of theremin, vocals, robotic bells and Sputnik beeps as we bring you extraterrestrial music and fascinating tales about Earth’s place in the universe.

We’ll be playing a one-hour set for families in Hastings Museum at 2pm (admission free), followed by a longer, evening set for adults at the F-ish Gallery, Hastings, 8pm (admission £5 in advance, £7 on the door). The evening event will be compered by space expert Colin Uttley. Hope to see you there!
